Ep. 212 “Getting shot was one of the best things that happened”: Life after an Oakland assassination attempt

每个大一点的地方可能都会有一片区域，大家会说不要去，真的很危险。Oakland在湾区就是这样的存在。（”不安全“是一个概率问题。肯定有很多人安全地在Oakland工作生活娱乐。）
之前在Code Switch听过好几期采访Oakland的teenager的节目。他们年级很小就会被迫接受自己的亲人被枪击。
这个podcast主要讲Oakland的历史。这一集采访了一位曾经被枪击的Oakland男青年。他的兄弟表兄弟好朋友等都有因为枪击去世的。他年纪很小的时候就听到过枪林弹雨的声音。他的brother和一位好朋友在同一时间同一地点不同年份被枪杀。
他被枪击后，万幸还活着，用了好几年慢慢恢复后，举家搬到了洛杉矶，现在过着普通的日子。
之前读讲芝加哥homocide问题的An American Summer。里面讨论了既然知道芝加哥的某些区域很危险，为什么不搬走。原因真的很复杂。越是生活在这些地方的人，越没有能力选择更好的生活。
